1989 IN HISTORY
Believe it or not, reunion planning has been underway since fall of 2007. When we first began this endeavor, many of the people we contacted wondered why we were starting so early. The fact is, events of this magnitude take all that time and then some to pull off...especially when all the planners collectively have jobs, spouses, children, homes to maintain, and just to touch on the broad strokes of our lives. Meetings have been attended, venues have been toured, decisions have been made. Without question, the most difficult decision that has been made is the most recent one to withdraw from our contract at Manor Country Club and move our Saturday evening event to a more affordable location.

HERE ARE THE FACTS:

Manor Country Club contracted us at a gross cost of just under $8500.00. When we originally calculated how many tickets we would have to sell just to break even, we came to 120 attendees. We stayed very conservative in terms of the scope of the contract (number of bartenders, minimum food/beverage order, etc.) in order to keep ticket prices at a minimum. However, as it turned out, we have fallen far short of the required number of tickets purchased to cover these costs and we are too close to the date to put off the decision any longer.

BUT DON'T BE DISAPPOINTED!

Our Saturday evening event will not be any less of a reunion than we originally anticipated! The new venue, Tommy Joe's Restaurant, has promised us an evening to remember.
  • Wristband for all RHS Class of '89 reunion attendees that will entitle you to Pay-as-you-go drink specials of $3.50 for drafts, rail drinks and wine. Members of the committee will be at the entrance to greet you and present you with your wristband. These special prices will be in effect between 7-10:00 p.m., after which point the prices will go back to normal.
  • Until 10:00, we will have their large back room and patio for our event. Delicious platters of various appetizers will be available.
  • After 10:00, we will have to share our private area with the public, but their DJ will begin to play at that point, enhancing the party atmosphere!...and we are free to stay and enjoy each other's company as long as we like.

Tommy Joe's is a frequently-used locale for reunions. They require no minimums or deposits or other fees, while still offering generous use of space and ample discounts. Click here to visit their website, which includes their menu and directions.
